I had long been debating about getting this cushion. I didn't feel I needed it, and the price was a bit of a deterrent, yet I was still interested. Ironically, I sat beside a woman on a plane who had one and asked her what she thought. She definitely felt it was helpful and encouraged me to get one. That flight was only 4 hours, yet my rear was already a bit sore. I bit the bullet, and it arrived just in time for my 19-hour flight to Asia. My rear didn't hurt at all, even with such a long flight! I also got the lumbar cushion. It didn't need inflated much at all to be helpful, but it certainly helped provide back support on that long flight. It still takes me a minute to roll it up enough to fit it into the carrying case, and that admittedly takes up quite a bit of space. However, I love that it has a clip and I can strap it on the outside of my backpack so it's not taking up bag space. I also feel better knowing this cushion can be used for bleachers or other seats in the event I'm not flying much -- it helps justify the cost. Overall I'm pleasantly surprised with it and would recommend it!

I have been looking for a cushion that prevents too much pressure on the back of the thighs when sitting down, as it caused swelling of my feet.
None worked out for me.
The only one that prevented the compression of the back of the thigh with the edge of the chair is the Sondur Travel Cushion-well done.

I have traveled a lot. I was a sales/account management road warrior for many years, flying multiple times a week. I no longer travel for work but love traveling with my husband. Over the years, I have tested and built a brilliant arsenal of tools to make any economy seat I'm stuck in a decent experience, no matter the length of flight. I have a Trtl "pillow", a Nap Wrap (google it and thank me later), a sling footrest, earplugs, travel cases... all the most helpful accoutrements and am always on the lookout for better mousetraps. One piece to the puzzle that has eluded me is the perfect cushion. I broke my tailbone when I was a kid and it healed very wonky. We barely take off before I'm uncomfortable. I have FINALLY found The Seat Cushion. Bought if for the long flight to Hawaii two weeks ago and I didn't have a moment of pain. Not one. No shifting off a pressure point. No repositioning.
I bought the two pack and my husband is also a great fan. He's very tall and in his 20's suffered a bulged disc in his back so airplane seats and long flights are also painful for him. He didn't experience any back discomfort at all. The Sondurs could take up double the space in our carry-ons and we would still take them. Luckily, it's easily packable. It inflates in about 2 quick breaths, which surprised me, and while it's a smidgeon tricky getting it back into the case, it's not a problem. Just roll it width-wise and tuck it under your leg for a minute while you get the case ready. Then roll it the other way and into the case.
I would also like to say a word about the eye mask you get with it. This is a new favorite! It is so comfortable and completely light-blocking. It has now become my nightly sleeping mask and my old one went in the trash. I'll probably have to steal my husband's. (If someone wants to send me another one of those masks I won't be mad about it at all!)

Absolutely brilliant! First trip 10 hours on our flight pain-free for complete journey.

I travel frequently and have a history with back issues. I did my research and shopped for sleep neck pillows and seating pillows to help make a difference, particularly on long flights. I depended upon published reviews and shopping reviews to make my purchase. I was on the fence with the Sondur seating pillow as it was fairly expensive for simply a seat cushion. I leaned on the reviews of others and decided to make the purchase.

I tried it at home first to ensure I knew how to inflate, deflate, adjust, and pack it up. It took a few times figuring how to completely deflate to get it back in its storage bag, but otherwise was pretty straight forward.

I just completed a 12 hour round trip using the pillow for the first time. When I sat down on the pillow initially, it was like "Meh, whatever". It felt soft, but I really didn't have much to compare it to. The WOW moment happened when the plane was taxiing after landing and I removed the pillow to deflate and put it away. Oh my goodness, the seat hardness without the pillow was extremely different than what I had been feeling for hours previously. After sitting on it for hours and THEN feeling the airline seat without the pillow, I recognized how firm (i.e. concrete) the airline seats really feel as compared to what I enjoyed with the Sondur pillow.

With each of the 4 legs of my trip, I inflated the pillow and felt comfortable throughout the flight. The pillow had me sit a bit higher than normal, but otherwise was reasonably comfortable.

In short, I did not realize what a difference the sondur pillow made until I actually tried it. The cushion it provides not only makes a long flight more comfortable, but I think it significantly dampens the vibrations and pounding I would feel in my back without it from the the airline seat.
